Spring Forward Retreat 2020

Event Description:

All S-Anon members and newcomers are invited to the mountains for reflection, self-care and a spiritual spring cleaning!  There will be opportunities for structured program time, activity time and free time for self-care, individual program work or meeting with sponsors/sponsees.  Crafts, cards, board games, music instruments and snacks to share during the weekend are all encouraged!

Accomodations:  

Participants will have shared motel-style rooms with a room mate.  All towels and linens are provided.

Program/Times:  

Full retreat will run from Friday at 4 pm until Sunday at 2 pm.  

Cost:  2-night Friday through Sunday retreat with all meals-$160.  

1-night (either Saturday or Sunday) retreat with 3 meals- $105

Saturday only (lunch and dinner), no overnight:  $60

How to Pay:  Payment is by PayPal or check.  Your space will not be reserved until your payment is received.  (Most important for overnight attendees.)  You will receive an email with payment information after you register here on TicketLeap.  Registration is limited by space.  Registration is not confirmed until your check/payment is received and the retreat planning team confirms your space.

Have you tried snowshoeing?

The Albany Pine Bush Preserve is a great place to get started with this fun sport. Join us for a 0.9-mile hike on snowshoes. We’ll explore the frozen landscape of the pine barrens and learn the basics of snowshoeing.

Snowshoes will be provided to program participants.  Program is appropriate for Brownie, Junior and Cadette level Girl Scouts.  Two adult volunteers are required and are free of charge.  Once we have the appropriate number of adult volunteers, all other adults can drop off or wait for the girls inside the Discovery Center.  

If there is not enough snow on the ground, we will hike without snowshoes.

Learn how to create a unique link bracelet using jewelry findings, beautiful beads, and hand tools. Select from a collection of gorgeous glass beads, pearls, metals and crystals to build your own design! All materials provided, but participants are encouraged to bring in their own pieces from old, favorite, or broken jewelry to see if they can incorporate them into their bracelet. We have adorable Polar Bear Charms to add to your bracelet for your very own handmade souvenir from Polar Bear Weekend 2020.

Instructor Molly Ann McKeefery is a local jewelry designer and certified NJ art teacher who will guide you to put together beads that make a custom designed bracelet that you hand-built yourself! Event Description:

Tier 1 Novice & 2009-2010 Atom sessions run for 1 hour, every Wednesday 4:30-5:30pm, from January 8 until March 25 and are for both Hockey and Ringette players, as well as goalies. Note: Due to Minor Hockey Week there is no training the week of January 22 2020.

Program will focus on the fundamentals of individual development,and will include but not limited to stick handling & puck control and will be structured around skating. Certified powerskating coaches, allow your athlete to gain the “EDGE” and confidence in not only their skating, but their skills foundation.

Training Sessions will take place on the mini-ice at MacDonald Island, Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Proceeds from the evening will support the cost (£1300 per person) of attending the European Jamboree 2020 in Gdansk in Poland. We have three people attending from Castle Point District Scouts in the Essex Emu Contingency Unit.

Competition Information:

Doors to competition venue will open at 8:00 A.M. Registration for Primary, Beginner & Novice dancers will begin at 8:15 A.M. and end at 8:45 A.M. The competition will start at 9:00 A.M. with the Beginner and Novice Lilt, followed by Primary Pas de Basques. Intermediate & Premier registration will begin at 12:00 P.M. and end at 12:45 P.M. with the afternoon competition beginning at 1:00 P.M with the Intermediate Fling. Dances will be competed in order listed. Competition will be conducted in accordance with the rules of S.O.B.H.D. Age groups will be determined by entries received. The decision of the judge is final.

Registrations will be confirmed via email within 7 days of receipt. All checks to be made payable to “Gibson Highland Dance” in US Funds (Canadian checks not accepted – must be money order in US funds or online payment). Dance numbers will be provided at registration. Entrance fee to competition $5 per person (12 and over). Children under 12, East Lansing residents, and sponsors enter free. Entries accepted through March 29. Entries received after March 29 will be charged a $10 late fee. No same day registrations.

Event Description:

Project 31 is a 5-piece dance band, playing music from many genres, including Rock, Funk, Motown, and more. All five members have been in the music business for many years. Bill Gottshall is the newest band member, on keys & vocals; Ken Fine, bass player & vocalist, brings the “thump,” and Larry Scott brings his expertise to drums, as well as vocals. Co-bandleader, guitarist, and vocalist Dezmond Ball and co-leader Kim Moyer, lead vocalist, worked together in the 1980s in the band After Dark. Bill and Kim played together in the band Déjà Vu, in the ‘90s, making Project 31 a reunion of sorts. The band is best known for putting their own spin on songs, especially blending various musical genres into medleys that are sure to keep the dance floor jumping!
