Event Description:
Join High Concept Labs for a very special talk from Artist Lincoln Schatz, creator of The Network.
In The Network, multimedia artist Lincoln Schatz focuses on the men and women who shape the daily workings of the United States. These digital portraits, now part of the permanent collection of the Smithsonian Institution'sNational Portrait Gallery, feature household names such as Nancy Pelosi, Sandra Day O'Connor, and Karl Rove, as well as behind-the-scenes operators. The work explores the larger themes that comprise policy, commerce, technology, and education in addition to the personal experiences, thoughts, and ideas of its subjects.
The Network was presented as an installation at ConnerSmith Gallery in DC this month and is at the Armory Show this March. The installation will consist of the generative video, video stills of all 89 sitters and the set on which the portraits were filmed at the National Portrait Gallery.
