What:
For those that don't know, we are in the middle of a legal battle with TransCanada regarding the Keystone pipeline set to go underneath our family farm. This tar sands pipeline that will run from Canada to the Houston area has been causing a lot of controversy both politically and environmentally. My family's case centers around the concept of "eminent domain", the taking of property by a governmental entity for a project that benefits the public. We do not feel a foreign corporation that is building a pipeline for their profit has a right to use eminent domain and take our family land against our wishes. We are appealing the condemnation and taking of our land by TransCanada, and our case is now in the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals. Our fight has garnered national attention and support, and we are proud to use our case to stand for the property rights of landowners across Texas and the United States. Here are a few articles about our case from the past year:

One family fighting a legal battle against a huge foreign corporation is incredibly costly, and we're funding our fight through donations contributed by people around the world. To stay in the game we’ve decided to host a benefit concert at our 650 acre farm on April 20th with all proceeds going towards to our legal defense fund. The Octopus Project (website) has officially agreed to headline this music festival, and we have several other bands joining them to make it a full day's event. Tickets will be $35 presold online, and $40 at the gate. We will also offer camping out in the pasture for Saturday night for $5. We are working to get a couple food vendors, and will provide free clean, clean drinking water from our well, but you should consider this pretty much a big picnic and bring your own provisions. It will be a BYOB, and we strongly recommend you purchase your supplies before you come to the area, it is a long haul to any stores that sell alcohol. NO GLASS ALLOWED.
Both my mother and I want this to be a huge success, and hopefully the first of many, so if everyone could spend a few minutes inviting some people that you think would enjoy a fun filled weekend of farm life and music for a good cause I would greatly appreciate it. The address for Red Arc Farm is 690 CR 37500 Sumner, TX 75486 and is about an hour and a half NE of Dallas and backs up to the Red River off of 79.
