Release Party, Reading, and Brunch for My First Kafka
A book release party, reading, and brunch to celebrate the release of the picture book My First Kafka, featuring author Matthue Roth as well as Kathy O'Connell, the host of Kid's Corner.
Runaway children who meet up with monsters. A giant talking bug. A secret world of mouse-people. The stories of Franz Kafka are wondrous and nightmarish, miraculous and scary. In My First Kafka, storyteller Matthue Roth and artist Rohan Daniel Eason adapt three Kafka stories into startling, creepy, fun stories for all ages.
Join author Matthue Roth, Kathy O'Connell, the host of WXPN's Kid's Corner, and other special guests TBA for a party to celebrate the realease of the picture book My First Kafka. There will be readings from the book and other favorite children's books, a conversation, and breakfast!
MATTHUE ROTH is a Hasidic author, slam poet, and screenwriter. His first book, Never Mind the Goldbergs, was an ALA Popular Paperback in Religion and a NYPL Best Book for the Teen Age. He's also written a memoir about becoming Orthodox (Yom Kippur a Go-Go), a supermodel spy caper (Candy in Action), and a cover of Ferris Bueller's Day Off starring Russian Jewish immigrants. My First Kafka is to be released June 2013.
KATHY O’CONNELL is the host of the Peabody Award winning “Kids Corner”, produced by WXPN (88.5). WXPN is a national broadcaster of adult album alternative format radio, and a guide for discovering new and significant artists in rock, blues, roots and folk. It is the non-commercial, member-supported radio service of the University of Pennsylvania.
Counter Culture coffee and bagels are at 10:00 am. The talk will begin at 10:30 am.
