Event Description:
Wines of the Balkans with Jill Weber of JET
Thursday, May 9, 6:30 pm
Venue: JET Wine Bar, 1525 South Street in Philadelphia, PA
Join Jill Weber, the owner of our favorite wine bar JET, and producer of "The Wining Archeologist", as we explore the wines of the Balkans. Often overlooked as a wine growing region, the Balkans are once again undergoing a revolution, but this time a much more congenial one. The region is in the spotlight again, as its wineries are gaining attention at International wine competitions and festivals.
Jill has selected wines of the Balkan Wine Project, whose mission is to introduce the US market to the Balkans "through a wine bottle". We will be tasting wines from the Milian Jelic winery in Serbia- the only winery growing the Morava grape. In addition, we will try Vranec from the Stobi Winery of Macedonia, and Malvazija from the Trapan Istrian winery in Croatia.
Afterward, we will gather upstairs in the wine bar, and enjoy beautiful weather and a few more drinks with our Eurocircle friends.
PS. Please plan to arrive early as there is limited parking in the area.
