Days after the Spring Strawberry Music Festival, both The Black Lillies and Birds of Chicago will visit the Big Room for a stellar twin bill.
The Black Lillies have quickly moved to the forefront of the Americana scene. Led by multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter Cruz Contreras, co-founder of Robinella and the CCstringband, The Black Lillies' rollicking and award-winning blend of country, alt-rock, neo-folk and mountain music has earned them critical acclaim and deep devotion from fans nationwide. Progressive enough for Bonnaroo and South by Southwest but with Appalachian soul roots that earn repeat invites to the Grand Ole Opry, The Black Lillies boast a transcendent sound and stage presence.
Also propelling Americana is Birds of Chicago, a duo that’s earned the swoon of The Chicago Tribune, “Achingly gorgeous. Slinky, vulnerable and reverent of the Memphis soul of yore.” JT Nero and Allison Russell first crossed paths through their respective bands (JT and the Clouds and Po’ Girl) and formed an act Americana UK calls “an utterly exceptional talent.”
