Chicago Composers: flute/guitar

Coming off of a fantastic Chicago Composer event featuring MAVerick's Andrea R. DiOrio (clarinet) and Jennifer Leckie (violin), we continue the series spearheaded by MAVerick's James Baur with works for flute and guitar in solos and duos.  For this event, Jennie Brown (flute) joins James Baur (guitar) in concert.

For this event, we are featuring works by Chicago composers: Amos Gillespie, Misook Kim, and Janice Misurell-Mitchell.  James Baur commissioned a solo guitar work at the end of last season and is looking forward to presenting another world premiere at this concert.  In addition, Misook Kim will be accompanying Jennie Brown in Seven Little Pieces for flute and Piano, and James and Jennie will present long-standing Chicagoan Janice Misurell-Mitchell's duo for flute and guitar.  We are pleased to have these composers join us for this event.

In addition, James and Jennie will present some of the best contemporary music for flute and guitar including: Joan Tower's Snow Dreams, Toru Takemitsu's To the Sea, and Robert Beaser's Mountain Songs.  We look forward to seeing you at this event and as always a reception will follow the event/
